What can you do if your Ministry needs editing program, but you can make either not or don't understand, use Photoshop?
For those who can't afford could Photoshop but understood the answer "The Gimp" is a traditional high-end image editing programs.
GIMP has been the flagship for end open-source programming projects for quite some time. Sure its good and secure its free, but it's certainly complex! Most churches and non profit work with voluntary complex is not a concept that we want to hear.
There is now an alternative that can your church, Ministry, non-profit or business benefit, and which are also free! It is called Pinta.
Pinta is a drawing/editing program, paint.NET inspired by. It aims to offer a simplified alternative to GIMP for casual users.
I tried it this weekend on some website banner and I personally found it easy to use. Although I'm familiar enough with the company Macromedia Fireworks program instead of Photoshop, this was much easier, a handle to get.
The menus and layout were surprisingly easy to use and understand. At no time, I felt intimidated or overwhelmed trying to understand what I should do next. This was a welcome change from working with the GIMP, which left me more than once confused.
It required that I install GTK for Windows, but was simple and easy as well. It should be noted that this program is to replace Photoshop for serious graphic designers. It is still a great substitute for those of us just a graphics program and need to use again.
