Why Google is not new to Microsoft

The European Commission, which shall examine whether Google's search engine is in breach of European competition law, the complainant received a letter last week to third parties. The complainant should be entrusted with the task of Google "in the wider aim of the behaviour of the structure of the stop anyone else from creating a competitive alternative." The accused refused to pahoinvoivia consumer business services such as YouTube, other search engines, said its practices were "disconcerting" and "troubling," and called on the European stage and officials, the penalty is a fine.

Wawa lobbying the EC had some strident consumer group. It was the Microsoft Bing search engine, the second largest holder — and the company that knows the thing or two about the anti-competitive activities and their legal effects. (See pictures of the work and life at Google)

After all, the Ministry of Justice of the United States in 1998 to sue Microsoft over bundling Internet Explorer with Windows, saying, who gave it to excessive lead other browser makers such as Netscape., first, that the Judge found that the software behemoth is entitled should be split into two companies; It finally agreed to avoid that fate, but designed to provide its competitor, the fighting chance limitations.

From seeing the 97-Pound weakling, the role of Microsoft shows how things have changed since the ' social expenditures, when it was muscle-bound sand horror that kicked in the face of the other tech companies in the future. But it is far from questioning Google's recent problem only a Player. For example, Google Books, suffered a massive setback last month when a federal judge rejected a settlement was reached with the publishers, Google may allow the sale of 12 million scanned e-books as anti-competitive. The three reportedly changing for initiates antitrust probes. Rumor also has it that the Federal Government can initiate an investigation as soon as it can determine whether the legal department or the Federal Trade Commission should be carried out within the framework of the investigation.

It is true that certain things about Google's location on the Web are wielded as a counterbalance to the Microsoft high-performance computing (HPC) back when the universe revolved around the PCs. The share of the U.s. Search market, Google is an exhausting 65%; the desktop appears, for the most part, the rest has been incorporated into the Bing-Bing and Yahoo results. (In Europe, Google's share is estimated at 85% or more, which may help explain why officials have not been examined in terms of the company's counterparts in the United States.) (See the top 10 Google Earth finds.)

If Google does it flush with cash from the ads search engine, it may not be ready to enter new fields — from office suites for the next generation broadband in the self-driving cars — without fretting over an immediate profit potential. It is in the same way that Microsoft double dairy cows, Windows and Office, long battles the other fronts the company funded a disadvantage against competitors.

And some information about the Google recently scuttlebutt, which relate to the tactics sound tad Microsoftian. Bloomberg Businessweek, for example, recently announced that the company was to the detriment of Verizon's plans for phones that run Google's Android operating system, but the page out of Google's search engine Bing. If set to true, which is curious considering Google an opportunity to remind the world that whenever possible the Android is open source software, the hardware makers — presumably — customize.

Overall, Google's current dominant position is a little, um, Microsoft assigns the terror, feel the Government during the period. When I did a Google check, I found that I use on a daily basis the company's 10 and nine other services several times a week. But they are used because I like them. (Gmail is the occasional exception. ") More important, in my opinion, does not fall into the trap. Every instance of the other companies in the solid alternatives are just a few clicks away — usually free of charge. (See "the anti-dumping cases, Probe: rigging the results of the search is Google?")

Which is a non-Microsoft bermonopoly bad old days of the PC operating systems, browsers and office suites. It then returns to work only in Windows applications, IE the main sites is required, and the documents, which your pals created may, or may, the Office is not open correctly in the suites such as WordPerfect and StarOffice. All of this task is a tough Bill Gates of the world, even if you do not wish to be part of it, to opt out.

Again, Google has proven to be not very good, clear the commanding station search success elsewhere. It said the service was called the wave of communications; the future of the people who bought that so little idea that Wave died within a month. The buzz, Twitter, the answer is not much. And all of Google's perhaps it has clearly been rattled by Facebook, a site that already has at least one of the many matters to millions of people all of the search engine result. (The latest stab Facebook-style social networking + 1, which is too new to judge.)

How things have played in recent years, Microsoft also gives me hope: the Fading power is less than the Government's actions with the consumer. When the Mozilla Firefox browser became better, millions of people dumped in Internet Explorer. Apple iPhone arrives, led to a sudden vanhahtava Windows Mobile market collapse. As well, the iPad was instant stylish, even if Microsoft was to be dealt with in the masses that the absence of a Tablet PC, computers were the future of the Decade. (See "Search Engine Wars: Bing (or Blekko) to win Google?")

Consumers, in other words, in General, pretty good by what is the benefit of consumers. I believe that, in their Turn on Google and its competitors, more than any government agency. Democratizing great power of the Internet and place them in an excellent location to Manage the device.
